Break Orbit
UI / UX and illustration for Break Orbit, a mobile game in development by the game studio Drowsy Fox.
With the goal of creating an approachable, vibrant interface, I used bright hues, softened geometry, and cute imagery for the interface and game graphics.
Together with Drowsy Fox, we are running usability tests among beta testers and colleagues to receive feedback on the user experience. For the user interface, I designed animated element state changes, uncomplicated navigation, and a design token system to aid in implementing design elements and themes into the game.
The game offers a great amount of customization options, allowing players to mix-and-match characters, ships, ship exhaust trails, and particle effects. I developed a set of ship designs, colorways, and world themes, and a system for procedurally generating planets using layered textures as building blocks—and I had a lot of fun doing it!
